Developer mode connectors — search and fetch are implemented

ChatGPT connects to remote HTTPS MCP servers. Localhost is not reachable; use Developer mode (Settings → Security and login).

Add Servicebay

  1. Enable Developer mode.
  2. Settings → Plugins (or chatgpt.com/plugins) → plus → create a developer-mode app.
  3. Server URL: https://oauth.servicebay.io/mcp
  4. Authenticate (OAuth consent, or a static API key if the UI offers a header).
  5. Review discovered tools and create the app.
  6. In a new chat, add the app from + → More.

search and fetch are no longer required for a general connector, but Servicebay implements both so Deep Research / company knowledge can cite results. Citation URLs are https://developer.servicebay.io/r/{org}/{entity}/{id} — a login-gated summary that requires Pro admin sign-in (404 if the record is unknown or the visitor is not a Pro admin of that org). fetch rejects malformed sb:{entity}:{id} ids. Write tools appear only when the grant or key includes the matching entity:write scopes. Full write actions in ChatGPT itself are workspace-dependent (Business / Enterprise).

Auth

  • OAuth: Claude-style DCR against Servicebay. Complete the consent screen (partial scopes, optional expiry).
  • API key: a key with allowedUses: ["mcp"]. Prefer the default read-only key unless the chat must create jobs.
